"I often find myself in awe of the transformation of the human heart. From my vantage point, it’s in the detail of life that give rise to the voice from within that needs to speak and be heard. It is inspiring to be a part of the hope, the healing and the victory. There is no greater joy for me than to use my life to stand in the gap for others as they move toward redemption and restoration."

“I became involved with Petra Place because of a passion for helping others that grew from the vision Stacey has for Petra Place. I also have a strong belief that all who want and need counseling for the many issues we face, should be able to find it available and affordable. For many years, I was an active volunteer for Alternatives for Battered Women.  I saw firsthand the limitless possibilities for new beginnings when people get the help they need. For many, it was the first time they could escape the vicious cycle of abuse they were used to. At Petra Place, I think people can find that same new hope and be given the tools they need to create a better life. I am grateful to be part of this vision.”

Sandy was born and raised in the Rochester area and has been involved with Petra Place for about one and a half years, currently serving as secretary of the Board of Directors.  She is also involved with Angel Food Ministries at Hope Lutheran Church where she is an active member. She is the mother of two and she and her family, including husband, Jim, make their home in Gates.
“Our communities are filled with talented, caring people and services, like Petra Place, just waiting in the wings to help people make positive changes in their lives.  But so many people, troubled and not knowing where to turn, have no idea what help is available to them.  It is my hope that by spreading the word about all that Petra Place has to offer, someone, somewhere will find the path to a better life.  And if it’s a dozen people who have heard the word and come to Stacey for help, well that’s even better!”

I am proud to help make that happen for those who are hurting in their lives and in their relationships. “My mom is the executive director of PetraPlace. I can see how much she cares about the people she treats. Since I have learned how to design websites, I wanted to help by creating one that people could use easily and find out all that is happening there. There really is a lot going on and I have made sure that everyone can find out what they are looking for. I want to help her and PetraPlace so that I can in turn help many people through the website."

“As a photographer, I try to capture the essence of the human spirit with a unique perspective as i become familiar with each of the subjects of my photos. In a sense it is an intimate way of portraying a person's likeness as they truly are.... I think that because of this insight i become more aware of the inner selves of people. I think PetraPlace also takes care to provide a safe place for people to discover and develop who they truly are. I think very often a person does not and sometimes can not see what it is that I see from the outside. I am excited that PetraPlace provides a way for people to see this for themselves."
