A Word about Individual Therapy...

Individual therapy is a collaborative effort between an individual client and therapist. Professional counselors help clients identify goals and potential solutions to problems which cause emotional turmoil; seek to improve communication and coping skills; strengthen self-esteem; and promote change and optimal mental health. Through counseling, existing behaviors, thoughts and feelings that cause difficulties in life are explored and patterns are observed. Effective ways to deal with these problems are learned using the strengths that are already present in the individual while new coping skills and tools are added.

Therapy is a treatment process. It utilizes the training of the therapist to provide specialized techniques of caring, mental health assessments and treatment that have been designed to offer effective, long-lasting help for people suffering from a wide range of difficulties. Some of these issues are: emotional distress, anxiety, marital strife, fears, a significant loss, or a clinical disorder. Therapy can also help fulfill aspirations for personal growth or self-improvement.

This process is a significant action taken on behalf of an individual to enhance life and promote the best self one can be even in the most difficult of circumstances. Healing and wholeness lead to a meaningful and purpose driven life as well as a freedom that allows for fulfillment in the areas of mental, emotional, spiritual wellness and deep, relevant relationships. Individual therapy is one venue that can facilitate these important elements in life.
